David Nijs Appointed Managing Director
Holden’s Bottling, the independent, third-generation family-owned beverage packaging specialist, have announced the appointment of David Nijs as Managing Director.
Nijs joined the Holden’s team in December 2023 and is a highly experienced brewer and operations executive, he is credited with introducing structured commercial strategies that have helped secure long-term, diversified contract packaging opportunities.
“I’m proud to take on the role of Managing Director at a business with such a rich heritage and so much momentum behind it,” said Nijs. “Since joining the board, I’ve seen first-hand the quality of the team and the strength of our client relationships. My focus is on building on the foundations Mark has put in place, investing in our people, our capabilities and our customers as we continue to grow.”
The move sees Mark Hammond, the company’s third-generation leader, step back from the day-to-day running of the business to concentrate on strategy and long-term development. Hammond will remain closely involved in the company his grandfather co-founded.
“David is exceptionally well-versed and capable, and this is a fantastic opportunity both for him and for the business,” said Hammond. “After leading Holden’s day-to-day for 20 years, the time is right to step back from the operational running of the company and focus my energy where I can add the most strategic value. It’s very much business as usual, the company is in excellent hands, and I’m excited about what’s ahead.”
The appointment comes following a period of significant momentum for Holden’s, which celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2023 and expanded its market capacity in April 2025 by acquiring South East Bottling’s packaging operations and installing a new canning facility.
The SALSA-accredited business handles contract bottling, canning, brewing and processing across a broad portfolio of beers, ciders, soft drinks, hard seltzers, mocktails, juices and premium tonics, supported by its own bulk haulage fleet.
